Understanding Roundup Herbicide: What the CCA Should Know about Glyphosate Behavior in Plants, Soils, and Sater Glyphosate is central to weed control programs for an increasing variety of crops. As such, this talk will cover key physiological and environmental properties of the herbicide that should be part of every CCA's knowledge base. Your improved understanding of this important tool is the aim of this presentation. ![]() Dr. Massey is an associate professor (20% teaching, 80% research) in the department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University. His teaching responsibilities include graduate-level courses in Herbicide Physiology & Biochemistry and the Environmental Fate of Herbicides. He also teaches Introduction to Environmental Science for undergraduates. His classes encourage students to master basic principles that are applicable across a variety of disciplines. His research investigates the environmental fates of pesticides, emphasizing water-quality issues in turfgrass maintenance and rice production. Prior to Mississippi State, he was a chemist with DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, DE. He currently advises two Ph.D. students. |
