will export this code to the MMP plan if it finds a watershed layer

- Illinois phosphorus risk assessment tool has been rewritten to eliminate
dependency on Microsoft Access.
- Indiana Offsite Risk Index tool has been rewritten to eliminate
dependency on Microsoft Access.
- Minnesota phosphorus loss assessment tool has been rewritten to eliminate
dependency on Microsoft Access. Minnesota P index has also been added.
- When "Maximum allowable rate" is selected in manure rate calculator,
MMP now displays the P index risk category for that rate for the
application's crop year.
- Check P Risk button added to RUSLE2 Data Editor generates the P index
report for the current field. Use this button to check if enough assessment
data and RUSLE2 data have been entered for the field or to view the field's
inherent risk prior to planning any P applications. It can also be used
after planning P applications to see the final risk for a single field
instead of running the risk report for the entire plan.
- Duplicate button added to Manure Transfer Editor. You can use this
to duplicate a manure export, import or internal transfers at specified
intervals for the rest of the plan.
- New DE_Poultry_Example.mmp sample plan has been added. This plan
has all RUSLE2 data entered and includes a RUSLE2 database (.gdb).
- Updated initialization data for Iowa, New Mexico,
Oregon and Washington.

New features in version 0.28 (as of 04-June-2009, release 0.2.8.0):
- Support for multiple counties in the same plan. If you have fields
that are in a different county from the main operation, you can
select a county for those fields on the Fields panel. (MMP's
GIS front-end
has also been updated to support this.)
- If your RUSLE2 database was created by the
Missouri clipper app
or uses official soil survey names, selecting the soil survey in the
RUSLE2 Data Editor is optional as MMP can now determine which RUSLE2
soil survey to use for each field automatically.
- MMP now includes three sample plans that have all RUSLE2 data entered
as well as include a RUSLE2 database (.gdb):

New features in version 0.23 (as of 03-May-2007, release 0.2.3.0):
- Support for Version 1 of USDA-NRCS's new national CNMP template is
included for all states. National templates are also included for generating nutrient
management plan documents for crop-only operations, manure import-only
operations, and manure export-only operations, as well as producer activity
documents for all 4 types of plans.

This setback data is from the new national manure application setback database
developed by John Lory and Arin Stark at the University of Missouri. A new
Setbacks button on MMP's General panel allows you to select the setback
requirements for your plan (for example, CAFO, NRCS, etc.).

- Phosphorus Index for Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland,

- Better support for XML export files created by NRCS Toolkit and Conservation Plugin apps:
- Tools | Import | Import Toolkit Custom XML File: You can base a new MMP plan
on a Toolkit XML export file, selecting the conservation plan(s) you want to import.
- Tools | Import | Get Conservation Plan From Toolkit XML File: You can extract
one or more conservation plans from a Toolkit XML export file. MMP creates a new
XML file in the same folder as the MMP plan file, with the same name but with a
.consplan.xml extension. This file will then automatically be used during CNMP
document generation. This allows you to exclude conservation plans (old, out of
date, under development, etc.) that you don't want included in the CNMP document.
- "Dummy" .consplan.xml files have been included for two of the sample MMP plans:
IN-Pig2.mmp and IN_Training_Example.mmp. Practices from these XML files will automatically be
included in the CNMP documents generated for these two MMP plan files.
- Manure Application Rate Calculator now calculates to 1/10 load instead of whole load.
- Manure Application Rate Calculator now calculates poultry litter rate to 1/10 ton instead of 1/2 ton.
- Reopen button in MMP's main window allows you to quickly select a recently
used plan file to open. MMP also now saves your main window's dimensions between
sessions so you don't have to resize the window each time you run MMP.

- MMP's manure application rate calculator now calculates multi-year
P-based rates using the same N limit as an N-based rate in these states:
Illinois, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin,
and Alberta (Canada). This change may result in higher rates than before
if multi-year P-based rates are re-calculated for existing plans. Note that
MMP was already using the appropriate N limit in all other states.

- All-new Manure Transfer Editor allows you to export manure from
the operation, import manure onto the operation, or make internal
transfers between storages, all on a monthly basis. To display the editor
for a specific storage and month, simply click a cell in the Storage Status
grid and press F2. A new sample plan (IN-Pig2x.mmp) is included that exports
some of its manure to a neighbor's operation.
- The Field Status grid on the Manure Apps panel now highlights months
in red when no more manure should be applied once a field has been
completely manured. This works with multi-year applications as well.
- The pick list of fields to choose from when applying manure can now be
ranked by application priority (as before), field ID, current crop,
previous crop, or by the Fields panel's current field order. Since the
Fields panel can be sorted by any field or soil test column, this means
the field pick list can be ranked by any of these columns as well.
- Enhanced Nutrient Status and Nutrient Balance reports.
- Built-in reports can now be viewed with Microsoft Word from
within MMP. This allows you to view, edit, print or save a report with Word
without leaving MMP.
- Updated Ohio and Indiana initialization files include those
states' latest application rate choices.

New features in version 0.17 (as of 21-Feb-03):
- MMP now calculates residual nitrogen credits from previous years'
planned manure applications and takes these credits into account
when calculating application rates for subsequent applications.
- A new Info button in the rate calculator dialog box displays
a report that explains the basis of each rate calculation available
for that state.

New features in version 0.17 (as of 10-Feb-03):
- MMP now supports 21 states, including the great states of
Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi,
New Mexico, Tennessee, and Utah.
- MMP now calculates manure nitrogen availability using
state-specific application loss factors for most states. To view the
source of a state's N loss factors, click in a manure application's
Avail N As Applied cell on the Manure Apps panel. The source will be
displayed on the status bar.
- Most states now include an additional rate basis in MMP's Calculate
Manure Application Rate dialog box that uses the new state N loss factors
to calculate a rate that accounts for application N losses.
- With forage crops, you can now enter the percent of the stand that is
legume. If entered, MMP uses this information to calculate the crop's
N recommendation and N credit more accurately in many states.
- You can now enter electrical conductivity (EC) on the Soil Tests
panel.
- You can now enter bedding weight for each animal group on the
Animals panel.
- A new Info button in the About box displays a report that lists
the version of Windows that you're running and the names and versions of
several commonly used programs if they're installed on your computer.
- A new version of the WinMax
recordkeeping software is also available that supports the 7 new states
and imports MMP plan files.
New features in version 0.16 (as of 11-Dec-02):
- An evaluation version of Indiana's Offsite Risk Index (ORI)
tool is now included. This is Indiana's phosphorus index, implemented as an
MMP custom tool. By drawing on MMP data, the ORI tool automatically identifies areas of
concern and calculates a pre-screening score, RUSLE erosion, and gully erosion
with only minimal user input. The ORI tool also generates a planning
calendar that indicates the months when manure should not be applied
to each field based on its environmental assessment.
- Indiana's CNMP document template is now included for automatically
generating an Indiana CNMP document that includes tables of MMP and ORI data.
- Custom reports for generating monthly charts of planned manure
application amounts and driving distances.
- Custom report for generating a compact monthly planning calendar for any
operation. This calendar includes each field's number of planned loads
if manure has been allocated for the operation.
- MMP now uses the latest NASIS soil map unit data to identify soils.
- Custom tools that query a Customer Service Toolkit conservation
practice schedule by tract, date, or practice for pasting into Word or Excel.
- MMP's Manure Application Recordkeeping Tool has two new reports:

Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs).
- "Customizing and Enhancing MMP: Development Tasks" is a Word
document discussing what you need to know to develop the various types of
custom tools supported by MMP.
- "Status of Software Links" is a Word document that describes the
current links between MMP and other software.
- Numerous program enhancements, including:
- You can now right-click on the Fields panel's row indicator column
to delete or insert a field in the grid.
- You can now enter soil test nitrate data (NO3-N) on the Soil Tests
panel, as well as notes about the soil test data.
- MMP now credits manure nutrients based on crop rather
than on a July 1 cutoff date. See MMP's help for more information.
- You can now use a custom application rate with the Rate Calculator
to calculate the number of loads and amount of manure to apply.
New features in version 0.15 (as of 29-Apr-02):
- New Document Maker generates "compound" documents from
'smart' document templates that states can create on their own. Document Maker
can combine boilerplate text, Word AutoText entries, and
tables of data into a single document. Two examples
of what Document Maker can do are included for you to try out:
- Generate an Ohio CNMP document. Simply open a
completed Ohio plan (for example, sample plan OH-Pig2.mmp),
then run the Make Ohio CNMP Document tool on the Custom Tools
panel. You can also run any of the 30 Ohio CNMP queries separately
for pasting individual tables of data into other documents.
- Generate a manure application planning calendar. Simply open
any completed plan (for example, sample plan IN-Pig2.mmp),
then run the Create Manure Application Planning Calendar tool
on the Custom Tools panel.
- Additional technical documentation is available for downloading

- "Creating a 'Smart' Document" describes how to create
your own 'smart' document templates for use with Document Maker.
- "Custom Tool Development Checklist" is a list of tips and
suggestions for creating great custom tools.
- You can now enter a field's spreadable acres in addition
to its total acres. If entered, MMP will use spreadable acres when
allocating manure instead of field total acres. MMP can also import
spreadable acres automatically from GIS front-ends such as SNMP.
- You can now enter extra dilution water for each animal group.
- MMP now adjusts its estimated manure nutrient analysis if you
enter your own annual manure production amount for a storage but
no manure lab analysis.
- Improved Nutrient Balance report now shows balance against
crop removal as well as against the crop's fertilizer recommendation.
- Two new storage types have been added to all states: "Dry stack" and
"Daily scrape & haul (liquid)".
- Support for soil test data files from Brookside Labs and
Spectrum Analytic has been added to Import File Maker.

New features in version 0.14 (as of 5-Dec-01):
- New Import Wizard analyzes and imports MMP-standard dBASE field
data files. Import files can contain soil test data, GIS data from SNMP
and other GIS front-ends, or field data from other recordkeeping and
nutrient management software. Complete documentation on the dBASE import
file specification is included, along with an example dBASE file in the
standard import format.
- New Import File Maker tool creates standard dBASE import files
from selected labs' soil test data, as well as from
USDA-NRCS Customer Service Toolkit (CST) plan data
(example files are included).
- New manure application recordkeeping tool for documenting
actual manure applications (meets recordkeeping requirements
for Indiana, Michigan and Ohio). As with all custom tools distributed
with MMP, the tool's source is included for states
that want to customize it to their recordkeeping needs.
- An MMP plan file can now be converted to a
WinMax project file
by the latest (Dec. 2001) version of WinMax for more comprehensive
crop production recordkeeping.
- New version of SNMP-to-MMP converter supports latest version
of SNMP GIS front-end
developed by University of Missouri.
- Custom tools are now arranged hierarchically by group in
an expandable Windows Explorer-type tree view.
- Ability to change number of years in plan, starting year, and
starting month, with options on how to handle affected data.
- Ability to sort Fields, Soil Tests, Storage, Animals, Analysis,
and Equipment data entry grids by any column.
- New detailed check-data report points out all of a plan's missing
data.
- Can delete all planned manure applications to start over with
allocating or to develop alternate manure allocation schemes for the
same plan input data.
New features in beta version 0.13 (as of 18-Jul-01):
- Spatial Nutrient Management Planner (SNMP), an ArcView-based program
developed at the University of Missouri that can be used with MMP, can
now be downloaded from

- MMP now supports Wisconsin (in addition to 12 previously supported
states). Wisconsin soils data includes subsoil fertility group and corn yield
potential used in Extension fertilizer recommendations.
- Iowa soils data now includes subsoil P, subsoil K, texture, and
Corn Suitability Rating (CSR). Iowa P and K fert recs have been revised
to use these soil attributes.
- MMP now determines previous crop for first year of plan from crop
rotation.
- N loss model has been enhanced to be more application specific.
- Projected soil P & K levels (previously a page at the end of the
nutrient status report) is now a separate report.
- Starting with the 2nd year of plan, field priority list in Manure Apps
panel shows both the crop that the manure is intended for (as before)

New features in beta version 0.10 (as of 7-Jun-00):
- MMP now supports South Dakota and North Dakota (in addition to
10 previously supported states).
- New dialog for entering title, author, company, and comments for the plan.
- Supports partial collection (< 100%) and part-year (< full year)
collection of manure.
- Rate calculation dialog has been redesigned. Can now choose from a
list of 11 ways to calculate manure application rate.
- Amount of manure that goes into storage is now estimated on an annual
basis rather than a monthly basis.

- Example document TestAuto.doc contains Visual Basic macros that
demonstrate how to operate MMP by remote control.

the main install folder to organize files better.
New features in beta version 0.08 (as of 29-Nov-99):
- Three additional sample 5-year plan files have been included. These three files
show several stages of plan development: no manure allocated yet, manure
allocated for first 40 months of plan, and manure allocated for all 60
months of plan.

New features in beta version 0.07 (as of 16-Jul-99):
- On-line help is now complete.
- MMP now calculates CEC on the Soil Tests panel if enough soil test
data has been entered. If it can't calculate CEC, or if you want to
override the calculated value, you can enter a CEC in the next column.
New features in beta version 0.06 (as of 9-Jun-99):
- Manure application rates on the Manure Apps panel can now be calculated
on the basis of:
- Available N before application.
- Available N after application method losses.
- Available N after application method and timing losses.
- Crop P needs.
- Crop K needs.
Basis 1 uses the storage's estimated available N from the Analysis panel
(or measured available N if it's been entered).
Basis 2 and 3 estimate losses using a model developed by Jay Johnson of
Ohio State. This model requires long-term temperature data. Currently,
these temperatures are only included with the Indiana and Ohio
initialization files. Until temperatures are added for the other states,
note the following restrictions for those states: basis 2 will calculate
available N using a percent of total N based on application method alone,
basis 3 won't be available, and the application's calculated available N
and N balance in the bottom grid of the Manure Apps panel will be blank.
Basis 4 and 5 use the greater of crop nutrient removal or fertilizer
recommendation.
- The nutrient status report now has an extra page that shows
estimated P and K soil test levels at end of the plan
based on planned manure applications and crop removal.
- The Tools dialog box's Custom panel now supports custom reports and
other custom tools. A standard set of custom reports is installed with the
program and can be run from the Custom panel. Although these reports
essentially duplicate the program's built-in reports, they are included
as examples of the sort of state-specific custom reports that can be
added to the program. Documentation for adding custom tools is included
in file CustTool.txt.
- On-line help has been added to the Tools dialog box which further
explains the Custom panel as well as the Reports and Export panels.
New features in beta version 0.05 (as of 6-Apr-99):
- The manure inventory grid at the top of the Manure Apps panel was
split into two grids, one showing storage inventory status and one showing
field manure status.
- The field status grid in the middle of the Manure Apps panel now shows
the number of acres manured rather than percentages of nutrient needs met.
- The manure applications grid at the bottom of the Manure Apps panel
now calculates and shows the following for each planned application:
- Acres covered by manure application.
- Distance spreader will travel to apply one load at the application rate.
- Per-acre available N applied (after application losses).
- Excess or deficit available N applied.
- Per-acre P2O5 applied.
- Excess or deficit P2O5 applied.
- Per-acre K2O applied.
- Excess or deficit K2O applied.
- Right-click on the row indicator column at the far left of the
manure applications grid to display a popup menu, where you can
choose Calculate Rate to calculate the application's rate.
- A column for entering each spreader's application width was
added to the grid on the Spreaders panel.
- A column for entering each soil test's year was added to
the grid on the Soil Tests panel.
- The nutrient needs report was rewritten.
- The nutrient status after manure report was added.
